Today we feature LiveFlavour

April 20, 2014

LiveFlavour is a contemporary African fashion house started by young entrepreneurial Zambian sisters Bupe (@Bupe_Mazimba), Angela (@Angel2eyez20) and Sharon Mazimba (@Shazzm1) as well as their trusted Nigerian technical counterpart Izzy. As sisters their love for fashion is matched by their desire to see the African continent develop and thrive. The intersection of fashion and development = LiveFlavour!

"LiveFlavour is a movement" says Sharon "We attempt to bring Africa to to everyone through what we wear. From vibrant prints to contemporary styles using African influences, these creations showcase the best Africa has to offer. LiveFlavour is not exclusive to Africans, but encourages everyone to participate and become a part of the movement to bring Africa to you."

"As African fashion enthusiasts it grated noticing pieces by designers such as Milq & Honey, KikoRomeo & Ikiré Jones on celebrities and peers without knowing how and where these pieces were purchased. This does not even take into account our sheer frustration at the amount of untapped talent both in the Diaspora and on the continent itching to show the global fashion scene that now is the time for Africa. So we set off to remedy that by launching an eCommerce business that has steadily gained momentum via social media. In the month and a half since the business launched we have gained followers on Facebook and are in the process of redesigning an eCommerce store that can handle more traffic." added Angela

While LiveFlavour retails unique, vibrant and elegant contemporary African fashion, the foundation of the company is a movement. This movement is to change prevailing negative narratives & perceptions of the African continent and change lives through business. Their development strategy works since they work with African and African inspired designers that utilize local resources to create their pieces while ensuring that the people are paid a fair wage. This breaks cycles of dependency created by aid and instead creates industry and competition.

"LiveFlavour matters because it will help us achieve our goal to help develop the continent through entrepreneurship and business. LiveFlavour is more than just a dream; it is a deep seeded desire to truly give each and every African creative access to their potential as defined by them and only them." says Bupe
