Introducing Zimbabwean Fashion Designer Paidemoyo Chideya

April 24, 2014

Today we introduce you to Zimbabwean Fashion Designer Paidemoyo Chideya (@Ms_DeMOYO). Pai is quickly becoming, not only the epitome of the classic, but the innovative of fashion in the Canadian fashion industry. With her product line, DeMOYO, it is clear that this designer is here to make her mark on the fashion world. Born in Zimbabwe, raised in Sweden, London and with nuances in Paris, Paidemoyo learned to refine her design eye through the diversity of all the multiplexes of cultures that surrounded her upbringing. Upon her New York City arrival, and determined to learn and succeed in the fashion realm, she apprenticed for Carolina Herrera, Calvin Klein and the likes of Ralph Lauren, where she learned to refine her eye for vintage, style, eloquence and demure.

The DeMOYO Brand was founded in 2010, and based on the notion that one’s dreams can come true. The idea is that we create “from the heart – de Moyo”. DeMOYO brand is a literal manifestation of the designer, Paidemoyo Chideya’s heart’s desire. Anything created from the heart will have authenticity, integrity, compassion, true creativity and staying power. Emphasis in each collection is on fashion forward silhouettes, with a focus on bold colors or accents, vintage inspired trims, and feminine nuances.Catering to a wide variety of female shapes, the concentration on fabric, intricate detail, and subtle but excellent fitting garments, DeMOYO ensures that the customer enjoys a luxurious, enlightening, fashionably tantalizing experience.

In a world in desperate need of healing, DeMOYO is a socially conscious brand that aims at sourcing in Africa, thereby infusing money and currency into local infrastructures and creating jobs in the long run, whilst promoting self sufficiency and economic independence. This powerful tool is achieved by hiring local women who are invariably highly creative to become a part of this emerging creative force.
