This week in MAPP Africa we are featuring Kudzai Chakaingesu

Kudzai is a Zimbabwean of many professions. In addition to being a photographer, he is a clothing designer, creative director, television presenter, and DJ.  

Born and raised in Harare, Zimbabwe, Kudzai’s photography has been published in Parade Magazine Zimbabwe and Jewel Magazine. He’s photographed major fashion weeks, such as Mercedes Benz Cape Town Fashion Week and Africa Fashion Week, as well as Zimbabwe Fashion Week 2014. He has collaborated with renowned photographer Michele Huddy Fortmann.

“I am optimist, a lover, fighter and bold man. I am passionate in whatever I set my mind to do and travel is my inspiration…I believe everyone should get an opportunity to travel as in broadens your mind and opens it to explore other cultures.”

Kudzai does not limit himself to only fashion shoots but has photographed for charitable organizations, such as Facez, an organization dedicated to providing economically challenged children with access to education.

Back in 2013, Kudzai hosted the Bulawayo Novelty’s Awards. Most recently, he covered the 2014 Zimbabwe Music Awards and Style Awards as the main presenter for Herald Zimbabwe’s upcoming  show “Lifestyle Deck.”

As a fashion designer, Kudzai’s pieces have been featured in Parade Magazine Zimbabwe. Griffinz is his men’s clothing brand which focuses on improving a men’s image. His clothing has been worn by a number of Zimbabwean celebrities, such as Gilmore Moyo and Willis Watafi.
